Love is in the air….and so is Coronavirus.
Well since coronavirus hasn't exactly been slow to spread, we decided to make sure that you, our beloved couples, stay nice and safe. But before we tell you how to prevent catching the virus, let's talk about what it really is.
What is Coronavirus?
Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses which, In humans, cause several respiratory infections. These can range from the common cold to severe diseases like MERS (Middle East Respiratory Syndrome) and SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome).
The recent outspread of coronavirus causes an infectious disease called COVID-19.
COVID-19 patients often show signs of fever, tiredness, and dry cough. Some patients may also experience aches and pains, sore throat, nasal congestion, runny nose or diarrhea. Most people easily recover from the disease without needing special treatment.
Only, 1 out of every 6 people who get COVID-19 becomes seriously ill and develop difficulty breathing. Older people and those with underlying medical issues like high blood pressure, diabetes or heart problems are more likely to develop serious illness.
How does it spread?
COVID-19 generally spreads through small water droplets from the nose or mouth which are expelled when someone coughs or exhales.
These droplets can land on objects and surfaces around the person thereby infecting other people who may touch these objects or surfaces and then touch their eyes, nose or mouth.
An important thing to note is that COVID-19 is mainly transmitted through contact with respiratory droplets rather than through the air.
Okay, so having learned all that, here are 7 tips that will help you and your s.o. to stay healthy this summer:
1. Avoid going out.
Well, as sad as it sounds, it is a necessity. Since the weather is changing its not a surprise that many people have a cough or cold. Crowded areas, thus, are the best places for catching an infection.
However, this is not necessarily bad news, take this time to stay home with your S.O. Why do dates always have to be outside? Plan a heavenly night at your home and embrace the gift and comfort of your love.
2. There's nothin' better than clean hands!
It's time to embrace the soap people because cleaning your hands regularly, could be just what you need.
Washing your hands with soap and water or using alcohol-based hand rub kills viruses that may be on your hands thus preventing you from catching an infection.
3.Personal space!!
Some physical distance between the people you are standing might just work wonders.
Maintain a minimum 1-meter distance between yourself and anyone who is coughing or sneezing. You don't wanna breathe in the cough droplets of the infected person, now, do you? (Yuk!)
4. Don't touch your eyes, nose, and mouth.
As I just explained above, infection hands touch many surfaces and therefore pick up many viruses.
Once the hands are contaminated, they can transfer the virus to your eyes, nose or mouth. And From there, the virus can easily enter your body and can make you sick.
5. Hygiene people!
Make sure you, and your partner, follow good respiratory hygiene.
This means covering your mouth and nose with your bent elbow or tissue when you cough or sneeze (and then disposing of the used tissue immediately and properly, of course).
Why? Well, firstly, because it's the droplets that spread the virus and secondly, good manners are always good in a partner!
6. Take rest, if you feel sick.
Stay home If you have a fever, cough and difficulty breathing. Don't worry and seek medical attention and get yourself checked up.
Staying at home protects you from catching other viruses and helps prevent the spread of yours. Plus it gives you a little beneficial me-time!
7. Stay aware.
Keep up to date on the latest COVID-19 hotspots i.e. places where it's spreading quickly. Stay aware of the advisory issued by the government.
So here were 7 tips for you to protect yourself from Coronavirus. Hope you stay fit and healthy!
