If you want to keep the flame alive in your relationship, we've put up a list of 18 appealing summer date ideas for you. You'll be grateful to us later for inexpensive date ideas and unusual summer date ideas!

Valentine's Day may fall in the depths of winter, but the true season of love is summer. This is because the days are longer, the weather is nicer, and there are more activities to do outside, resulting in an excess of fun summer dates.

If that doesn't convince you, we've put together a list of our favorite date suggestions, some for hot summer evenings and some for bright days (such as renting a pool float and tubing down a nearby river or picking strawberries at a neighboring farm).

1. Check out an Outdoor Film

Many local parks and community centers offer outdoor movies over the summer, and you could even be lucky enough to have a drive-in theater nearby. Bonus points if an action or horror picture is playing—these films raise your pulse rate, which can heighten emotions of attraction and love, according to Marisa T. Cohen, a psychology associate professor and the writer of From First Kiss to Forever.

2. Visit an aquarium.

Do you need to go inside as soon as possible? Visit your local aquarium for a change of pace (unless you already see sharks every day, in which case, hello, nice!)! Furthermore, what better way to gently launch your spouse on Instagram than with an aesthetically pleasing image of them in front of a massive blue tank?

3. A Walking Tour

Even if you've lived in the same city or town since birth, there are always fresh and interesting things to discover about your surroundings. Take your date on a walking tour of your neighborhood (or a neighboring one) to discover how much you know about it.

4. Attend a Cooking Class

A cooking class is a great way to engage with your spouse, whether you're learning to make pasta by hand or churn ice cream. According to Corrin Voeller, a couples therapist, achieving something releases dopamine and makes us feel wonderful. She says that doing this with your relationship has the amazing side effect of your brain identifying your significant other with those nice sensations. While local restaurants and culinary schools may provide in-person instruction, you may also benefit from a wide range of online classes: Virtual choices include Williams-Sonoma and Sur La Table, as well as the League of Kitchens, a culinary experience in which immigrants lead private cooking lessons from their own homes.

5. Miniature Golf

"Put your competitive hat on and play a round of mini golf." To keep things interesting, you might also make a silly wager. "The loser pays for the winner's ice cream!" — Jasmyne, 16 years old, Ocean City, NJ.

6. At the mall, you may play dress-up.

Hear us out: When they're not congested or crammed with screaming kids, malls are the ideal summer retreat because 1) they're chilly, hello, and 2) there's enough to do there. Have an upcoming occasion or always wanted to see your lover in a certain 'fit? (They'd look great in plaid, they just don't realize it!) Make it a tradition to choose one piece of clothing for each other. Don't forget to stop at the end for a food court pretzel.

7. Take a Hike

Find a hiking route near you and explore the beautiful outdoors with your significant other. You'll get to view some stunning sights while encouraging each other along the route. "When one partner is feeling adventurous or afraid and stepping out of their comfort zone, it allows the other partner to show their protective side," says Rori Sassoon, a relationship expert and cofounder of Platinum Poire.

8. Complete the TikTok Grocery challenge.

Remember the Target Challenge TikTok that went viral? No? Allow us to explain: You and your spouse go to any grocery store (or whatever all-purpose store is nearby!) and purchase each other the following items: your/their favorite drink, snack, something in their favorite hue, something that reminds you of them, and an everyday item. (Consider a toothbrush, a pillowcase, a new pair of shoes, etc.). Feel free to mix and match the categories as well! Instead of one of the above, choose an activity to do together or a book you want them to read. In any case, you regroup at home and show them what you've got!

9. The Bookstore

If you both enjoy reading, go on a mini-adventure and look out for a new bookshop in your city. And who knows, it may become your new favorite hangout.

10. Rent A YULU

Dates don't have to be expensive. Consider hiring bicycles and cycling throughout town, stopping at new locations. According to Byron Tully, author of The Old Money Guide to Marriage, "This will help you confirm that the attraction you feel for your partner is not just something you experience when you're having an expensive meal." Consider how much fun it would be in the middle of the night when the roads are deserted. It has the potential to be a beautiful moment for you two.

11. Get yourself to the movie theater.

There's a reason why movie dates are classics. Make it a double feature and watch a movie they choose as well as one you choose. In addition, there is free air conditioning and comfortable seating. Say less.

12. Attempt a New Cuisine

According to relationship expert Sharon Cohen, "You have to do novel activities or things that are a little bit thrilling to keep the same neurotransmitters flowing through your brain and body that were sparked when you first met. Mix things up by trying new cuisine, and be sure to order something that both of you are hesitant to eat. (Are you feeling particularly daring? You may even experiment with cooking that new food at home.)

13. Cricket Match

We're going to watch a cricket match together. However, before you go, you should eat at a local restaurant or dinner. Stadium food and beverages can be quite costly.

14. Play the DIY Barman game.

Okay, there are so many great summer beverages to prepare. Start by looking through these summer cocktail recipes, or just searching Pinterest for a tasty-tasting beverage. Increase the stakes by also building your favorite applications with your date.

15. A Long-Night Drive

To be honest, it doesn't matter where you go on a road trip as long as you pack decent munchies and create a catchy soundtrack. It's also an excellent way to spend some time alone.

16. Go cosmic watching.

"Sometimes the best thing a couple can do for their relationship is to stop overthinking and overdoing and just be," Fraley continues. Even something as simple as going to a dark place and staring up at the night sky may be a romantic experience. (We suggest installing a stargazing program, such as SkySafari, Star Tracker, or SkyView, for assistance in locating planets, stars, and constellations.)

17. Drink on a Roof

If cold beverages taste better outdoors than inside, they must taste much better on a roof. A roof, like a shoreline, has a naturally romantic quality to it—whether it's the vast expanse of a metropolis before you or the small wind coming off your margarita, it's all gorgeous and exquisite. At night sky, take a passionate toast to your future on a rooftop.

18. A Beach Walk At Night

In the middle of the night, take a walk down the beach. If things get awkward, remember the old man in the purple Speedo. And because there are no people around, you may feel more at ease.
